Koson captures the stillness of winter through a minimalist palette. The crow’s hunching posture conveys the palpable chill, blending traditional Japanese "kachō-e" (bird-and-flower) aesthetics with a modern, naturalistic sense of realism. Throughout his prolific career, the artist used three different professional names depending on the publisher he worked with: Koson, Shōson, and Hōson.
