Poster designed by Kenneth Denton Shoesmith (1890–1939), a prominent British marine artist and member of the Royal Institute of Painters in Water Colours. Published by Royal Mail Lines, Ltd (formerly the Royal Mail Steam Packet Company) around 1930. Shoesmith was himself a former sailor with the Royal Mail Line, which gave his maritime illustrations a high degree of technical accuracy.
