Katsushika Hokusai’s celebrated series, A Tour of the Waterfalls of the Provinces (Shokoku taki meguri), published around 1831–1832. It depicts the "Mist-Falling" waterfall at Kurokami-yama in Shimotsuke Province. Cascading water dominates the composition, rendered as rhythmic, abstracted streams. Small pilgrims gather below, their scale emphasising nature's power and movement, a hallmark of Hokusai’s landscape vision.
