This final work showcases Klimt’s obsession with "Japonisme". The composition is light and airy, replaced by a symphony of yellows and pastel florals. The birds and lotus blossoms create a lush, exotic atmosphere, reflecting a serene, optimistic departure from the heavy symbolism of his middle period. This was the last portrait Klimt ever painted; it was still on his easel when he died in 1918.
